Incubator Hire related FAQ

How Long does it take to set up?

The Larger incubators take around 15 Minutes to put together from it being delivered/ collected as a flat pack package, It requires just 8 bolts to put it back together and is very simple to do

It it easy to take down and put back together?

Yes, you only need an Alan key to take the unit down, remove the lid, unbolt 8 bolts to take the sides down and then lay all piece by piece on the floor section to flat pack.

What size car do I need to collect?

You would need at least a 4x4 or estate car to fit this item in, the smallest panel is 122cm x 91cm which needs to lay flat with further panels on top.

Where is collection from?

WE are based between two addresses generally LS27 (Morley) or WF12 (Dewsbury) depending on the date and time of appointment.

What days can I collect?

We offer collection generally 7 days a week, we will be as available as possible for emergency's for poorly pups.

How long can my puppy's stay in the incubator?

The Smaller ICU unit is fine up to around 3 weeks, the larger unit is fine for pups up to 8 to 12 weeks depending on amount of them and actual breed of pup

What's the difference between ICU and Large Incubator Whelping Box

The smaller box is used for new born pups and poorly pups anything upto around 3 weeks generally, great for transporting to and from vets also. Its provides a bit more of a concentrated heat and is a smaller area for the oxygen when needed so I feel it is a little more direct when needed due to gasping/ pneumonia ect.

Micro Chipping related FAQ

How much does it cost?

Minimum fee is £60 for a booking with us, we charge a min of £15 per puppy for small litter, to £10 per puppy for 10+ Pups.

How long does microchipping it takes?

Only a couple of minutes per puppy

Does it hurt dog

Not at all they very rarely feel it as it's done in the nape of the neck where the skin is looser, when done correctly the pups should not make a sounds

What age can they have it from?

Generally larger pups can be chipped from 6+ weeks, smaller pups may need to wait until they are 8 weeks, but all pups should be chipped by 8 weeks to comply with the current legislation.

Where do I come for microchipping?

We are based between LS27 (Morley) and WF12 (Dewsbury) depending on the date and time of appointment.

Scanning related FAQ

How much does it cost?

Prices start from £40 and vary on times and location for scan

Does it hurt the dog or unborn pups?

Not at all the method is totally safe and as many scans as needed can be provided, we would only every say not to scan or do minimum if mum doesnt like being scanned and it stresses her out.

how many scans can they have?

As many as needed for you to be happy with the pups and their development.

What's best time to have a scan?

Generally a pregnancy can be seen from around 21 days but it isn't the easiest to see and at this stage it provides no information on the viability and if the pups will last the pregnancy. 31+days definite signs of pregnancy showing and some puppy development, 45 days+ generally a good stage to see where pups are at, shouldn't be any reabsorption after this point so numbers should be clearer, developments of pups will be well on the way, starting to see heart beats, bon structure ect...

what can you see on a scan?

This all depends on what stage your dog is at but the further on into the pregnancy you can check the viability of pups and development.

Where do I come for the scan?

We are based between LS27 (Morley) and WF12 (Dewsbury) depending on the date and time of appointment.

Stud Dogs related FAQ

What area do your studs work in?

We are based between LS27 (Morley) and WF12 (Dewsbury) depending on the date and time of appointment. We can travel a little but may charge a small fee depending on area.

what is involved when we meet the stud im a nervous first time breeder?

We would generally meet at a clinic, once your bitch has had a blood test to confirm where about she is in her cycle, The person at the clinic will then collect the sperm from the stud dog and then insert it into your female and do the necessary to try and ensure it gets to where it needs to be to help her along the way. They would then recommend getting her nice and calm and on the way home to let her settle. Generally Artificial insemination is done twice, either 2 days ion a row or with a day in-between if needed

What days are your studs available on?

We are generally available 7 days a week, we understand its hard to plan if and when your bitch will be ready, we just ask for as much notice as possible to ensure we can be there on the correct date at the time you need.

Rehoming a puppy related FAQ

What age can a pup leave its mum?

Puppies need to be with mum until they are 8 weeks at the very least, a pup should never be separated from its litter until its 8 weeks and has had its first vet check and initial injections.

What food do you feed your dogs/ pups on?

I personally feed all my pups at the rehoming stage and my adult dogs on a raw food diet as this has been the best option for me and my dogs, the health benefits have been great seeing an improvement in their general health and coat condition.

What do I need when taking a pup home for the first time?

We would always recommend you are prepared before taking a puppy home, All our dogs/ Pups are crate trained with us so we would encourage that this continues, its means no risk of chewing/ messing around the house when your out and about and not home with the pup, it also ensures the pup has a safe space and somewhere to call their own, Sometimes after playing and having fun they may feel they need time on their own in their own space, a pen/ crate can be the ideal space for them. Other items needed are Food/ Water Bowls, Bedding, Puppy Pads, Poo bags, Puppy Treats, Cleaning solutions suitable for dogs.

Nanny Whelping Services related FAQ

What does a Nanny actually do?

A Nanny is on shift 24/7 providing a whelping service day and night to mum and pups, generally feeding hourly the first couple of days to two hourly for the remainder of the first week, they increasing as the gain in age and weight. When the time is right Weaning pups from mum to mush/ food. Encourage toileting and use of puppy pads when old enough to help with training. Ensuring fun playtime and a place to run around daily getting them up, walking and playing as they should and ensuring development is as it should be and at key stages expected. We will take mum and pups to the vets (vets bills are not covered by us and would be charged to you directly) if and when needed should anything happen we are not comfortable in dealing with our selves but are capable in most things like, bottle and tube feeding should it be needed.

What is included in prices and how long is it for?

Our prices include feeding pups and mum 24/7 as and when needed, also including tube and bottle if needed at no extra cost. Puppy pads bedding ect…, we also include worming and general treatments like liver water, Miracle drops and rehydration fluids to name a few, which we have to hand should we need then. The only thing we dont include is a vets fee, should your pups/ mum need to visit a vet day/ night emergency or none any cost incorrect would be passed on, we would always try and ask you before we take them but sometimes we dont have time and its imperative we get there. Invoices will always be kept and a breakdown of what has been done would be sent through to you when requesting the payment.

When do I pay for the whelping?

Payments are taken weekly at the beginning of the coming week, so say your dog is dropped for whelping with us on the Monday you would pay on the day for the next 7 days, meaning your next payment would be due the next Monday and so on for however many weeks your dog is with us for

How long do you keep mum and pups for?

The length of time is totally down to you, we can do one week, we can do twelve weeks, We would ask however that mum is collected though when she is done whelping ad the pups are weaned and she is no longer needed. When she has finished feeding them she needs extra love and attention at home and needs feeding back up bless her so it gives her some time on her own before you then have pups back to get ready to sell should you leave the pups with us for the full weaning/ training time.

Co-owning related FAQ

What costs are involved?

This all depends on the Coown home requested, some people take a dog on as they just want a pet and this is generally at no cost to them, some would like to be financially and physically involved in the breeding so they would pay 50% of the puppy's cost and then when that puppy has its litter they would take on 50% of the work and gain 50% of the profit made from the litter

What do I have to do?

Again as above this all depends on the amount of input the Coown family want to put in, either none of 50/50 this can be arranged as per what suits the family's needed

If the dog is used for breeding how many litters do they have - This all depends on if the dog gives birth naturally or C section but in general terms anything from one to four litters depending on mum and how she copes.

Can I choose the pup I want?

In some case yes but in most a pup is chosen by the breeder and kept and offered on Coown based on its looks, bloodlines and specific items the breeder wants to keep within its lines

What do I have to do when the pups are born, I've never bred a dog before?

This all depends on what route you have taken, we would generally not take a 50/50 Coown with someone with no experience on breeding, we would generally take full responsibility for the breeding if you had no experience.
